Martin S. Tallman, MD, to Join Lurie Cancer Center

Martin S. Tallman, MD, will join the Lurie Cancer Center as Director of Faculty Mentorship and Career Development, effective June 1, 2022. An internationally renowned clinician, he will focus on the management and development of new treatments for patients with both acute and chronic leukemias.

Dr. Tallman is an active clinical investigator whose discoveries have fueled the progress of leukemia-targeting therapies. He comes to Lurie Cancer Center from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he served as chief of the Leukemia Service and professor of Medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York.

He is the immediate past president of the American Society of Hematology (ASH), chaired the Leukemia Committee of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) for 16 years, and served as immediate past chair of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Acute Myeloid Leukemia Panel. Dr. Tallman’s move to Chicago and Northwestern Medicine brings him full circle to Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he served as professor of Medicine prior to his appointment at Sloan Kettering.
